Flip-n-Chip - A Golf Aid That Will Improve Your Short Game.
By Brian Weis
I admit I am a training aid and golf gadget junkie. I own or have demoed almost every major golf apparatus, training product and teaching device. Some products are gimmicky, many are better built mouse traps and some are truly paradigm shifts.
While strolling thru the aisles of the Milwaukee Golf Show, I couldn't help but noticing the wild neon colored both. I stared blankly and thought why is a Frisbee golf disc company doing at a traditional golf show??!!! Seeing my dumbfounded stare, co-founder Shane Geary approached me and said, "it is the Flip-N-Chip".
As he handed me the orange disc he explained the Flip-N-Chip is revolutionary new chipping device. "Simply toss it like a Frisbee and chipping to it. When done chipping, repeat.
"And what is wrong with the traditional chipping net?" I asked.
Geary shared that a traditional chipping net promotes bad habits. If the ball lands in the net you will get a false sense of security because you did not experience the rest of the story. By chipping to an object instead of into an object a person gets a better feel of the true outcome of the shot.
"If you are going to practice you should replicate what you are faced with on the course and a flat target simulates a chip shot better than a net."
At that moment I had that "Ah-ha" paradigm moment. I guess dozens of others did as well as I saw the brightly colored disc in a lot of attendees bags at the show.
