French Lick Resort Winning Awards And Set To Open Pete Dye Course In 2009.

French Lick Indiana is rapidly becoming one of Midwest premier golfing destinations. Thanks to The French Lick Resort's recent hotel and golf course renovations along with the announcement of a new Pete Dye course set to open in 2009. The property features a 51,000 square foot casino and 689 guest rooms at two hotels, The French Lick Springs and West Baden Springs.

The West Baden Springs Hotel has been winning accolades since it reopening in May 2007. The Condé Nast Traveler Magazine ranked the hotel on its 2009 Golf List, a world ranking of the top 700 best hotels, resorts and cruise lines. In 2008 the hotel was recognized in magazine's Top 75 US Mainland Resorts.
Originally built in 1902, the West Baden Springs Hotel re-opened in May 2007 following a meticulous restoration. Nearly $100 million was spent in an effort that maintained the historic integrity of the building but upgraded its amenities to that of a four-star property. Once dubbed the "Eighth Wonder of the World", the hotel was a haven for celebrities, gamblers and political figures.

The French Lick Resort also offers world class golf that features a fully restored 1917-designed Donald Ross Course. In the Spring of 2009, a new Pete Dye course will open giving the resort a total of 45 holes. The new Dye course is located on a dramatic site that looks more like the rolling mountains of North Carolina than the flat lands of Indiana. The course, situated upon a hilltop -one of the highest points in the state - was carefully carved into the dramatic hillside offering a variety of elevation changes, rugged and dramatic terrain, narrow fairways and ever changing bunkers, along with spectacular views from every hole that stretch for over 40 miles. Many already believe that Dye has created one of the most breathtaking and exciting 18-holes of golf in the country.
